Kumaraguru College of Technology was established in 1984 by Ramanandha Adigalar Foundation (RAF) a charitable and educational Trust. The founders of the college are the renowned spiritual leader Thavathiru Sundra Swamigal, the third Mahasannidhanam of Gowmaramadalayam and Arutselvar Dr. N. Mahalingam, Chairman of Sakthi groups, Coimbatore. Kumaraguru College of Technology is located in the outskirts of Coimbatore in TamilNadu, India. Coimbatore is popularly known as Manchester of South India and is well known for its Textile Mills and Engineering Industries.


The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, headed by Dr. Rani Thottungal, has been offering a full time 4-year B.E. Degree course in Electrical & Electronics Engineering since the inception of the Institution in the year 1984 and two year full time M. E programme in Power Electronics and Drives and M.E programme in Embedded Systems. Both U.G. & P.G. Programmes are accredited by N.B.A. The Department has conducted International and National level conferences, short-term training programmes, and workshops. Sound infrastructure facilities like full-fledged laboratories, established library and dedicated faculty team of well qualified staff members and technical supporting staff are the highlights of the department.

Electric motor driven systems used in industrial processes consume 66 percent of all electricity used in Indian industry, according to the report given by Department of Energy. The industrial motor electricity consumption could be reduced considerably if companies were to apply “Proven Efficiency Technologies and Practices”. The purpose of FDP is intended to address energy saving opportunities using efficient drives and their controllers. This program provides a platform for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of Energy Efficiency, Electrical Drives and Control.
